Aston Villa 'part company' with Roberto Di Matteo

The club released a statement this morning.

ROBERTO DI MATTEO is no longer manager of Aston Villa.

The club announced this morning that it had taken the decision to part company with the former Chelsea boss.

The club said it had decided to act:

“Following a run of disappointing results which has the left the team occupying 19th position in the Championship.

The club would like to place on record its appreciation to Roberto for all his efforts in helping rebuild the squad and wish him well for the future.”

Di Matteo was in charge of just 11 matches since his appointment in June with Villa claiming one win — against Rotherham in August — and seven draws in that time.

Steve Clarke will take temporary charge of the club.
